Deputy Attorney General files to contest Tempane seat
The Sitting Member of Parliament for Tempane in the Upper East Region,Mr Joseph Dindiok Kpemka, on Friday, filed his nomination forms to contest the Tempane constituency seat for the second time on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the December polls.
Mr Kpemka who is also a deputy Attorney General was flanked by his wife Mrs Pascalina Kpemka and some party executives as well as some NPP supporters as he filed his papers.

The Returning Officer of the Electoral Commission (EC),in the Tempane Constituency,Mr Nang Abdulai who received the nomination forms and other supporting documents thanked the Parliamentary candidate and said all the necessary documents requested were being submitted.
Mr Abdulai noted that the process of filing nomination forms formed part of a significant stage of the electoral process towards organizing a successful election as it would inform the Commission on the validity of each candidate in accordance with the constitution and the electoral rules and regulations.
He advised the Mr Kpemka and his supporters that while the EC worked to formally accept his candidature to contest the Parliamentary seat, it was imperative for him and his supporters to maintain decency in their campaigns in order not to mar the peaceful conduct of the elections.
Addressing Party supporters after filing of his nomination forms, the incumbent MP expressed gratitude to members of the NPP for their support over the years and for endorsing him to contest again in the forthcoming general elections.
He noted that the President Akufo-Addo led administration within the last three and half years had demonstrated good governance that translated into the improvement of livelihoods hence Ghanaians need to maintain the NPP in power to continue to deliver more development projects to the citizenry.
Mr Kpemka expressed confidence that the NPP will emerge victorious in the December polls stressing that the NPP government had done a lot for the people of Tempane ranging from education, health infrastructure, employment creation among others.
The deputy Attorney General therefore urged the party supporters to intensify their campaigns by explaining the massive development projects undertaken by the government to the electorate so that they can take an informed decision.
While urging his supporters to eschew violence during the campaign process, the MP expressed confidence that for the first time, the NPP will win both the presidential and parliamentary elections in the Upper East Region.
Background
The Tempane Constituency has been one of the safest seats for the largest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress(NDC), in the Upper East Region since the country returned to constitutional rule in 1992 until it lost it in the 2000 and 2016 general elections.
The Tempane Constituency was carved out of the Garu-Tempane Constituency in 2012.
Mr Kpemka who went unopposed will face Miss Lydia Akanvariba Lamisi, widow of the late David Adakudugu, as the NDC’s parliamentary candidate.
While Mr Kpemka will be seeking to retain the seat for the NPP, Ms Lamisi will attempt to wrest the seat back for the NDC.
