Counting of ballots to continue in spite of curfew

Collation of election results of the presidential and parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will continue after 6pm in Bimbilla in the Northern Region in spite of the curfew in the area.

Bimbilla is under a 6-to-6 curfew following recent violence in the area that claimed some lives.

Speaking to Graphic Online, the Bimbilla District Chief Executive (DCE), Alhaji Mohammed Ibn Abass said the party had made arrangements with the security personnel to provide security for all the people who would be involved in the counting of the ballots after the elections.

"We have made the necessary security arrangements for all those who will be involved in the counting of the ballots after the curfew hours", he stated.

He added that all the key stakeholders in the exercise had been given identification tags and apparel to enable the security personnel to identify them.

Alhaji Abass however noted that the exercise was going on peacefully in all the 25 polling stations in the constituency.

He said no violence had been recorded since the voting started in the morning.

"We haven't recorded any incidents since voting started in the morning and we are very hopeful that the elections will end on a very good note", he stated.

The Bimbilla NDC Primary is being contested by five candidates and they are, Dr. Emmanuel Makagi Jagri Tamanja, Dr. Joseph Kwabena Manboah Rockson, Joseph Wajah Tabor, Dr. Adam Hafiaz Taher and Daniel Mensah Onajah.
