A statement signed by Mr Mahama Ayariga, Minister of Information and Media Relations, said the commemoration of the first anniversary of the death of President Mills on July 24, 2012, was in line with custom and tradition.

It said the decision to mark the day was taken by President John Dramani Mahama in consultation with the Atta Mills family.

In line with that, it said, Mr Kofi Totobi Quakyi had been appointed as chairman of the planning committee and would operate from the State Protocol Office, State House.

The statement said all enquiries relating to the first anniversary celebration should, therefore, be channelled to the secretariat.
