Buaben Asamoah elated at smooth voting process

“Excellent, efficient and almost flawless” was how the New Patriotic Party (NPP’s) parliamentary candidate for the Adentan constituency in Accra, Yaw Buaben Asamoah described the special voting exercise in the constituency as part of the 2020 general elections.

Buaben Asamoah said he was amazed at the manner in which the exercise was organized and commended the Electoral Commission for working to allay fears about both the exercise and the safety of voters amid concerns over coronavirus (COVID-19).

Mr Asamoah, who is also the incumbent MP led the NPP’s agents who observed the exercise at the constituency which took place at the District Command of the Ghana Police Service.

“I’m satisfied with the extent to which the COVID-19 safety protocols are being enforced. It has so far been excellent and I’m amazed at what the EC has been able to do.

“The equipment has been very efficient, particularly, the verification machine which usually poses challenges has been used so far without any hitch and this is an indication that the main exercise will go on smoothly as well”, Mr Asamoa said.

He expressed optimism that the impressive turnout at the special voting would be replicated on December 7, confident that the outcome of that turnout will be in his favour.

“I’m confident that the good people of Adentan constituency will break away from that tradition of changing their MPs every four years.

“In the past, there was a reason for that, but now, I think Adentan is making gains and having their fair share of development.

“My involvement at the national level, my contribution at Parliament and the tangible projects, particularly, in roads construction, are good reasons why the electorate would want to retain me”, he said.

The special voting at the Adentan constituency went without a hitch. As early as 6:30am, the election officials had set up and by 6:50am, voters had begun arriving to cast their vote. By midday, about 400 people, more than half of the 617 people on the special voters’ register, had cast their votes.
