Bosomtwe NDC up in arms against Mahama's nominee
The Executive Committee members of the Bosomtwe Constituency of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) are up in arms following the re-nomination of the former District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Edward Nti-Berko, by President John Dramani Mahama.

They have, therefore, appealed to the government to, as a matter of urgency, withdraw him in the interest of peace and development of the party and the nation as a whole.
Speaking at a press conference at Esreso in the Bosomtwe District on Tuesday, Mr Isaac Kwaku Nyame, Constituency Secretary of the party, said Mr Nti-Berko had failed to work to the expectation of both the party members and residents within the district as he could not bring any development to the area.
The constituency secretary said the recent rejection of Mr Nti-Berko by the assembly attested to the fact that he performed below the expectation of all.
On August 26, at a special sitting of the assembly, out of the 49 assembly members 21 voted in favour of the DCE, representing 42 per cent, while 28, representing 58 per cent, voted against him.
Mr Nyame explained that since Mr Nti-Berko did not get 50 per cent of the votes in the recent confirmation, he should be replaced with someone who was winnable and stood the chance of being accepted to do a good job or bring the needed development to the constituency.
He said since the appointment of the DCE, he had never met the party executives to discuss any major issue concerning the party or the government which appointed him.
Among the allegations levelled against him were that he had been awarding contracts to his cronies without consulting any member of the party, and inaugurating projects without the knowledge of the party executives.
The other charges are that during public and national ceremonies such as independence, Republic Day and Farmers Day, he refused to consult and involve the party members, especially the executive, leaving everything in the hands of his administrative staff.
Mr Nyame said although the constituency executive had earlier presented a petition to the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Eric Poku, for consideration, nothing was done about the situation and the DCE was said to be preparing to be voted for again.
His re-nomination creates doubt and suspicion in the minds of the people and as such any attempt to impose him on the people will incur the wrath of the constituency executive and the people in the constituency.
