Asuogyaman Assembly, President’s nominee confer

Members of the Asuogyaman District Assembly, in collaboration with the Asuogyaman Constituency Executive of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), have organised a family meeting concerning the President’s nominee as the District Chief Executive, Mr Thomas Ampem Nyarko, at a short ceremony at Atimpoku.

The meeting, christened “Family Meeting,” was aimed at introducing, sensitising, educating, and preparing the minds of the assembly members towards the endorsement of the nominee by the key political players in the assembly.

Mr Nyarko, until his nomination, worked at the Institute of Local Government Studies.

Mr Seth Okai Ntow, the Presiding Member of the Assembly, was very grateful to the members of the assembly for the prompt response to the family meeting.

He said the Asuogyaman District Assembly was devoid of internal wrangling as it pertained in some assemblies and was sure that the assembly members would extend the friendship and unity that existed among them in the formal administration to the in-coming DCE, should he be endorsed.

The Asuogyaman Constituency Chairman of NDC, Mr Love Joy Dusi, expressed the hope that the members of the assembly would repeat the endorsement of the President’s nominee once and for all after the 21 days, as it was done in 2009 for the out–gone DCE.

“We are noted for unity at Asuogyaman, and I hope the same will be repeated that day in order not to disappoint the President about his nomination. I know that today’s family meeting will give birth to the unity and victory for all,” he stressed.

A founding father of the NDC in Asuogyaman, Capt  Emmanuel Vodi (retd), said the nominee was capable of leading the district and the constituency and appealed to the members of the assembly to consider the nominee and endorse him.

The nominee, Mr Nyarko, was overwhelmed by the love and unity the members of the assembly exhibited at the ceremony.

He pledged to use an open leadership style, should he be confirmed, and added that “Wisdom is not in one man’s head and so collectively we shall work to move the district forward.”

The Eastern Regional Deputy Youth Organiser of the NDC, Mr Yaw Antwi, who represented the regional executives at the function, urged the assembly members to endorse the nominee.
