Asiedu Walker promises to introduce two-week payday policy if he wins 2020 polls

The independent presidential candidate, Alfred Kwame Asiedu Walker, says he would institute a policy that would ensure that workers were paid bi-weekly should he win the December 7 polls.

According to him, the bi-weekly salary structure will help boost the economic lives of individuals who solely depended on their remuneration for survival.

“Should we make it, I have also proposed a bi-weekly salary policy. Payday must be two weeks. I see no reason why someone who is being paid GH₵500 or GH₵1,000 a month shouldn’t get half of it every two weeks, so they are relieved of their problems.

“There are people who have borrowed money before the month ends, and they can’t even pay their rent. There are those who have borrowed money to cater for their children in hospitals, and they can’t even pay the arrears. So yes, we are going to institute this policy that is done elsewhere in the world”, he said.

Mr Walker who was addressing the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II and his entourage, also said he would ensure that more jobs are created to engage the country’s teeming unemployed youth.

Having aspired to become a presidential candidate but could not make it after he was disqualified by the Electoral Commission of Ghana in 2016, Mr. Walker is now the only independent candidate among the 12 presidential candidates for the 2020 polls.

Alfred Asiedu Walker and his running mate Joseph Osie Yeboah are keen on bringing onboard realistic ideas and pragmatic solutions that will change the existing narrative of the country.

Already, he has said he will create an all-inclusive government should he win.

He intimates that his vision for Ghana is not party centred, hence he will work with members of parliament from both NDC and NPP as well as other political parties who are Ghana centred.

MP’s under his tenure will also be situated in their respective regions so the people who voted them into power can have complete access to them.

“Each MP will have a bungalow which will be properly maintained by maintenance officers who will be employed by the government in the various regions,” he said.

Walker has stressed that Ghana needs a leader who is poised for development, therefore, he is ready to take the country to the stage where it can generate money and create its own assets.

“Ghana cannot borrow to develop, Ghanaian ownership should be our focus” he stated.

Walker added that his government will allow young people to participate in the development making process to create equal opportunities for all.

He indicated that contracts in Ghana are mostly given to party loyalists who do not get the job done, therefore Ghana cannot fight corruption when party loyalists are appointed for the contract. In his incumbency, government contracts will be given to individuals who can decently do the job.

“Ghana needs an independent movement to alleviate its people from the frustration the two predominant parties are causing. Ghana needs a change, and we will make history come December 7, 2020.”
