Ashanti NDC postpones campaign launch 

 

The Ashanti Regional branch of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has postponed the regional campaign launch scheduled for October 8, to October 15, 2016.

According to the Regional Communications Director, Mr Samed Akalilu, the launch which is expected to attract the crème la crème of the party from President Mahama to national executive members, ministers of state among others was postponed for “strategic reasons”.

He told the Daily Graphic that the decision was in the best interest of the party and would buffer the decision to garner over one million votes at the polls for President John Mahama and move from four seats to 10 seats.

Already, various committees under the umbrella body have hit the ground running to ensure that the party holds a successful campaign launch.

The 17-man campaign Taskforce for the 2016 general elections include Mr Andy Osei Okrah, Deputy Regional Minister and Campaign Coordinator; Mr Yaw Owusu Obimpeh, Regional Chairman; Mr Raymond Tandoh, Regional Secretary; Alhaji Sani Abddulai, Regional Organiser; Mr.Samed Akalilu, Regional Communication Officer and Mr.Brogya Genfi, Regional Youth Organiser.

Others are Hajia Ajara Saddique, Regional Women’s Organiser; Muntaka Mubarak, MP, Majority Chief Whip – Member; Mr Nurudeen Hamidan, MCE, Asokore Mampong – Member; Mr. George Abofra, Regional NDC Director of Elections; Professor Kofi Annan, KNUST.

The rest are Dr. Oteng Agyei, former Energy Minister- Member; Madam Edith Amammo, former Regional Deputy Treasurer; Madam Ama Sarpomaa, former Regional Women’s Organiser; Mr John Alexander Ackon, Regional Minister; Mr Kwame Peprah, former Finance Minister and Mr.Obeng Adutwum.
