Akufo-Addo picks new voters ID card

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Monday honoured his civic responsibility and registered as a voter in the ongoing mass voter registration with a call on all qualified Ghanaians who have not registered to get their names on the electoral roll.

He said people should register so that "when the D-Day comes they can also participate in choosing the government of their choice."

He said it would be sad for qualified Ghanaians to sit at home and not get their names on the roll and then allow other people to take a decision for them, adding that "it is better that everybody who has not yet registered should come out and register."

Protocol

Accompanied by the First Lady, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo, the two were welcome to the Rock of Ages Registration centre at Kyebi in the Abuakwa South District in the Eastern Region by health officials led by Ms Sheila Tetteh, who took their temperature and assisted them to wash their hands with soap under running water.

Process

President Akufo-Addo who was the MP for Abuakwa South Constituency for three consecutive terms described the registration exercise "as a simple process and not complicated" and noted that he was very impressed with the safety protocols the Electoral Commission had instituted to ensure that people register in safety.

2016

Speaking to the media, President Akufo-Addo said in 2016 he asked the people of Ghana to give him a chance as President and see what he had to offer Ghanaians.

He said he was given the opportunity to govern and it was time for them to decide how they see the work he had done.

He expressed confidence that he had done a good job and was optimistic they were satisfied with what he had done and would give him another mandate.

President Akufo-Addo and the wife provided their details after which their pictures were taken and given the voters identity card.
