He added that the NDC in government, as a social democratic party, was people centred, with education as one of its priorities and would continue to support educational institutions with the needed infrastructure to enable them produce the needed human resource to develop the country.

According to him, the government, in its 2013 budget statement, read to Parliament, has allocated 25 per cent of the resources to education which is the biggest among all the sectors of the economy.

He urged the authorities of educational institutions to ensure that the huge investments that the government had made in the educational sector commensurate with performance.

He expressed concern about the low performance particularly in the public basic schools though the government was committed towards the provision of infrastructure facilities and other educational materials in such schools.

He called for proper supervision in schools to improve teaching and learning, as well as ensure better performance among the students.

He stressed that the inclusion of private schools in the distribution was to give meaning to the concept of public private partnership since the government saw the private sector as the engine of growth.

Mrs Comfort Ocran, the Head of Administration at Swedru Happy Home Preparatory School, on behalf of the heads of the beneficiary schools, lauded the MP for the gesture, adding that they will take care of them to prolong their lifespan, as well as help teaching and learning in their respective schools.
