Adwoa Safo donates relief items to victims of Dome Market fire

The Member of Parliament for the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has made donations to some victims of the recent fire outbreak at the Dome Market in the Ga East municipality in Accra to lighten the burden of the affected traders.

Adwoa Safo donated an undisclosed sum of money and some items to about 10 of the victims who were badly affected by the inferno.

The Dome Market was gutted by fire a couple of weeks ago, destroying property worth hundreds of thousands of cedis.

The MP, who cut short her trip abroad upon hearing the news of the incident, was at the market to assess the impact of the disaster and encouraged the traders not to give up on their source of livelihood.

As a measure to help  to resuscitate the businesses of those who were most affected, Adwoa Safo presented them with a number of student mattresses and cash as start-up capital for them to begin their businesses again.

Meanwhile, the member of Parliament has urged the government to adequately resource the fire service and other allied organisations to enhance their responses to emergencies.

She bemoaned the incessant fire outbreaks that had hit most major markets in recent times and called on the various assemblies to help stem the tide.

The traders expressed their gratitude to the MP for her support.
