A former New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Treasurer Kwabena Abankwa Yeboah has officially filed his nomination to contest for First Vice Chairman of the party.
Speaking to the press after filing his forms for the party's National Executive Elections scheduled for October 3, 2026, in Kumasi, Yeboah said he has served the party for 33 years at various levels, including as polling station chairman in Klottey Korley constituency, Greater Accra Regional Treasurer, and National Treasurer for two terms.
He said his tenure as National Treasurer was marked by systems that put every constituency first, including timely support that reached all constituencies without favouritism and the insistence that every constituency open an account to protect party resources.
He listed key achievements including championing the purchase of landed property for a party headquarters, acquiring a printing facility for the head office, and introducing innovative fundraising systems such as Adopt-a-Polling-Station and the NPP donation scratch card.
Yeboah said if elected, his focus would be on opening the party wider, uniting members and rebuilding structures.
"If elected First Vice Chairman of our great party, I shall pursue this same approach — to open doors wider, uniting our people, rebuilding our party structures, and standing firmly behind our National Chairman to work tirelessly to restore hope and trust, which are essential for victory in 2028," he said.
He acknowledged that the road ahead for the NPP is tough after its recent electoral setback but said the party's spirit remains alive.
"The challenges that confront us as a party are enormous. But the spirit that has sustained us for generations is still alive and is calling us all to move forward," he said.
He concluded with his campaign theme: "United to rebuild, ready to win the 2028 election."
