30 Aspirants to battle for PNC top positions

Stalwarts of the People’s National Convention (PNC) have picked nomination forms to contest national executive positions of the party, including the flag bearer slot when the party holds it national congress in Wa in the Upper West Region on November 27.

At the close of nominations on Friday, November 6, at 2:00p.m, 30 aspirants had picked their forms to contest the Flag bearer,  National Chairman, First Vice-chairman, General Secretary, National Organiser, National Youth Organiser, Women Organiser and Treasurer positions respectively.

Nominations, which were opened on November 2, closed on November 6.

Nominations forms

Two  persons, who have picked nomination forms  to contest the flag bearer position are Dr Edward Mahama, the four-time flag bearer of the party and Mr Hassan Ayariga, the 2012 flag bearer of the party who is seeking re-election.

The  National Chairman position is vacant because the incumbent Alhaji Ramadan is not seeking re-election.  The position is up for grabs by three stalwarts of the party. They are Mr Bernard Monah, the General Secretary,  Mr David Apesera, a fomer Member of Parliament and Abu Sidiq Kwashie Ebla, who is campaigning on issues such as integrity and loyalty to the party.

Three aspirants have also  picked their forms for the Vice-chairman position.  They are Mr E.A Halm Quartey, Hajia Hajara Musah and Henry Haruna Asante.

General Secretary

For the General Secretary, two aspirants, Mr Emmanuel Wilson Jnr, and Atik Mohammed have picked forms to  lock horns for the position.

The  National Organiser position is  hotly contested by two persons, Abu Ramadan, and Desmond Twumasi Ntow, who have already picked their forms.

Two strong ladies, Janet Nabila, and Elizabeth Amedekenya  have  also picked their forms to contest  the Women’s Organiser position.

National Youth Organiser

Another executive position that has attracted a record number of contestants and is billed to be keenly contested  by four young men is the National Youth Organiser.

They  are Alidu Mohammed Nasir-Deen, Awudu Issaque, Mark Ewusi Arkoh, and Eugene T.K  Bashiru.

The treasurer position has not been left out as three aspirants who want to control the party’s purse have picked  forms to contest.

They are Mr Kabah Abraham Hirohito Yuantua, who is campaigning on real service with  integrity, while Mr  Kurby Kandora is talking  about experience, dedication,commitment and hard work. The third aspirant is Adams Akaane.
