India: Blind man convicted of raping blind widow after she identifies him by his voice

The unidentified woman, also from Delhi, told the court how she had tried to find a lawyer following her husband's death from a suspected suicide in 2014 and had been introduced to Kapoor via a friend as someone who could help her.

In May 2015, bank worker Kapoor accompanied her to Gurgaon, southwest of New Delhi, to supposedly meet a lawyer but instead took the woman to a guesthouse, where he raped her.
'When I started crying, he asked me to be quiet and said that he would marry me.

'Over the next five months, he sexually exploited me on the pretext of marriage.

'He also took money from me on a number of occasions. After some time, he said he did not want to continue the relationship,' she alleged, according to the Times Of India.

Kapoor, who was arrested in December that year, was convicted based on the call details of both the accused and the woman, as well as medical evidence, forensic report and the woman's statement.

Kapoor is due to be sentenced on July 24.
