For over five hours, the dogs and their owners engaged in various competitions such as musical chairs, dog agility, dog obedience trials and protection activities.

One of the local breeds, named Suva, emerged the overall best dog for the day after winning the musical chairs competition, the obedience trials and putting up a splendid performance during the agility stage as it jumped huddles, loops and ended with a walk on a mounted wooden stage.

The event also attracted breeders and dealers in various dog products.

According to the organisers, Kenneth Singhal Dog Training Academy and Career Incorporation and Kennel Union of Ghana (KUG), the event was aimed at creating awareness of the significance of dog training.

Mr Singhal said it was important for dog owners to invest time and resources into training their dogs for security purposes, adding that the behaviour of dogs depended on their training.
