Two support Mankranso Hospital, others

Ghana Healthcare Volunteers of Georgia, Inc. (GHVOG), in collaboration with Advocates for World Health, based in Tampa Florida, USA, (both health care non-governmental organisations) have donated assorted health equipment and supplies to the Mankranso District Hospital.

The items, valued at $120,000, are  made up of hospital beds, an ultrasound machine, autoclave, examining tables, centrifuges, microscopes, wheelchairs, stethoscopes, baby weighing machine, baby warmer, wound care, surgical and infection prevention supplies, and other vital equipment.

Other beneficiaries of the consignment include the Bibiani and Kumasi South (formerly Atonsu Agogo Hospital) Government hospitals in the Western and Ashanti regions, respectively.

The Ahafo Ano South District Director of Health Service, Mr Reuben Bedzrah, who received the donation , said it  could not have come at a better time since the district had completed community health planning systems (CHPS) compounds at Banniekrom, Pokuase and a health centre at Kunsu which were not functional due to lack of requisite medical equipment.

The President of GHVOG, Dr Nicholas Fosu, said the decision for the gesture  was in fulfilment of the second strategic goal of GHVOG after about four years of offering free health outreaches and screenings in under-served communities in Georgia, USA.

He said the donation was a dream come through as it took them three years of hard work, determination, perseverance and focus to achieve this noble goal.

He pledged the groups continuous support towards the citizens and the nation as a whole and reminded the people to be responsible not only for themselves and their families but for the entire community.
