Nyaho donates vehicles to Ayawaso-West Health directorate

The Director General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, has commended the Nyaho Medical Centre for their dedication to duty, especially in the management of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Ayawaso West District.

He said the strong partnership with a private health facility such as the Nyaho Medical Centre (NMC), had helped provide the country with options to fight the pandemic which had led to a decline in the rate of infections in the country.

“COVID-19 response has become an all public and private response which has been greatly managed due to the willingness and collaborative nature of the private health facilities with their respective public health facilities to deliver more access to health care”.

The director general made this commendation last Thursday  when the NMC donated a brand new VW polo sedan vehicle to the Ayawaso West Health Directorate to support them in their official duties.

The vehicle, which was presented to the health directorate at the premises of the NMC, would also be used for service delivery in the fight against the  pandemic.

PCR test Centre

Dr Kuma-Aboagye also inspected the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test centre at the hospital which was currently being used as the COVID-19 test centre in the district.

Also, the testing facility provides COVID-19 test results to both health facilities and individuals who need certified COVID-19 test to travel out of the country.

The director general  commended the facility for the provision and urged the district to use both the PCR centre and the vehicle for the intended purpose to aid service delivery in their operational area.

Donation

The Managing Director of the NMC , Dr Elikem Tamaklo, intimated that public-private partnership was a shared commitment to saving lives in the healthcare delivery system, and particularly in situations such as the outbreak of  the COVID-19 pandemic which  took every health institution by surprise.

He said the facility remained committed to continuous partnership to all the necessary quarters of the health industry in providing quality health care to the people.

He expressed the hope that the presentation of the vehicle would help alleviate some of the challenges that the district health team faced in the discharge of its duties.

While commending the leadership of the Ministry of Health and the GHS for their continued dedication towards the fight against the pandemic, Dr Tamaklo gave an assurance that the PCR centre was always available to the GHS even for future use and research studies.
