The ambulance, which will be added to the pool of vehicles of the Ghana National Ambulance Services, will mainly be at the disposal of two health centres: Sepe Buokrom and Moshie Zongo Health centres to convey patients to referral centres.

The Kumasi Metropolitan Director of Health, Dr Alberta Britwum-Nyarko, who received the presentation, expressed gratitude to the MP for his gesture and said she was hopeful that other MPs within the metropolis would emulate his example and assist the health directorate with equipment and infrastructure to meet the health needs of the people.

She appealed to the government and other public-spirited individuals and organisations to assist the health directorate with more Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds to meet the health needs of the people, indicating that there were only five CHPS compounds in the metropolis with two being in the Manhyia North Constituency.

For his part, Mr Owusu-Amankwah said the health needs of the people were important to him and that he would do all within his power to ensure that those needs were met.

He said the ambulance was purchased from his share of the MP’s Health Fund.
