Kpandai Polyclinic to be upgraded to district hospital
The government is to upgrade the Kpandai Polyclinic to a district hospital to meet the health needs of the growing population of the Kpandai District.

President John Mahama said this when he addressed supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at a rally in Kpandai yesterday, on day two of his re-election campaign tour of the Northern Region.
He said the population of Kpandai was increasing and, therefore, the government had started construction works to upgrade the polyclinic.
He said a district National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) office would also be constructed in the district to prevent residents from travelling to Salaga to process their health insurance card.
Youth employment
President Mahama urged the unemployed youth in the area to take advantage of the rebranded Youth Employment Agency (YEA) to earn a living.
He stated that about 400,000 youth nationwide were to be engaged in the various modules rolled out by the agency from now to 2021.
He said so far, 50,000 out of the 100,000 youth have been engaged for the first batch of the recruitment programme.
Roads
Touching on the road network in the area, the President said the government had awarded contracts for the reconstruction of the Kpandai-Salaga and Kpandai-Wulensi roads.
He added that when work was completed, the roads would link up to the Eastern Corridor road.
Electricity
President Mahama told the large crowd that when the Professor John Evans Atta Mills took over as President in 2009, electricity coverage in the Northern Region was 30 per cent but the NDC government, from President Mills’ time to date, had been able to increase the electricity coverage to 70 per cent.
He announced that 24 communities in each of the 26 districts in the Northern Region, including the Kpandai District, would be connected to the national grid by the close of this year.
He gave an assurance that the government was also working on the water supply system in the district to address the water shortages experienced by the people during the dry season.
President Mahama urged the people of Kpandai to vote massively for him to enable him to complete the projects he had started in the district to improve on their living conditions.
He also used the occasion to introduce the party's parliamentary candidate for Kpandai, Mr Kwadwo Kpalimo, to the people and urged them to vote massively for him too.
President Mahama said the party lost about 300,000 votes in the 2012 election due to wrong thumbprinting on the ballot paper and, therefore, urged the electorate to be careful when exercising their franchise this time around.
