Coca-Cola supports staff of Teshie Community Clinic

The Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Ghana Limited has donated a variety of sanitary ware and assorted beverages to staff of the Teshie Community Clinic at Teshie, near Accra.

The donation, which coincided with World Health Day, was to show appreciation to staff of the facility for their resilience and dedication to duty.

The Human Resource Manager, Equatorial Coca-Cola Bottling Company Ghana, Ms Francoise Cleland, who led a team of staff from Coca-Cola including Mr. Bethel Yeboah, Public Affairs and Communications Director, said the staff of the Teshie Community Clinic deserve every support for their fortitude and pleasant approach to work, which continues to draw large patients each day.

“We are here to recognize the Teshie Community Clinic for the great work they’ve doing in the community and to give them a big ayekoo for all the work the frontline workers have been doing for this clinic”, she said, while presenting the gifts.

The donated items included latex gloves, facemasks, detergents, sanitizers and beverages from Coca-Cola.

A tour of the facility revealed serious congestion, with offices of very limited space serving multiple purposes. Patients’ records are in cubicles in the corridors, and everyone has to squeeze to make room for colleagues.

Some staff have had to forfeit their offices altogether to accommodate the overflowing numbers of patients who come from far and near. The Community Clinic is situated in the densely populated old township half of Teshie, and even though the more appointed LEKMA Hospital is also available, the recent demolition of the nearby La General Hospital for redevelopment has seen outpatient numbers through the roof.

“We try to make do with what we have, but as you can see it is not easy at all”, said Mrs. Audrey Boham, Administrative Manager of the 10-year-old Teshie Community Clinic offering both preventive and clinical care.
