Cape Coast Teaching Hospital receives ICT equipment

The Cape Coast Teaching Hospital (CCTH) has received Information and Communications Technology (ICT) equipment worth 800,000 euros to help improve health delivery at the hospital.

The equipment would specifically help the hospital to technologically network all the departments to ensure efficient communication for better service delivery.

The equipment, made up of 175 Dell Optiplex computers, 41 Dell Latitude laptops, 12 projectors, 20 Cisco wireless access point, HP network printers and 32 ciscos catalyst network switches, were presented by a Ghanaian ICT specialist based in The Netherlands, Mr Clement Adu Twum.

There were other items, which  included seven LCD information screens, four hospital beds, 21 stationery cabinets, two smartboards and networking equipment and office furniture.

The presentation was facilitated by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) as part of its Temporary Return of Qualified Nationals (TRQN) III Project, with support from the ROC Mondriaan, an educational institution in The Netherlands.

Making the presentation, Mr Adu Twum said  a crucial aspect of the package was the training of staff of the hospital in ICT skills to enable them to  effectively use the ICT system for their work, and was optimistic that the presentation would further enhance the efficient operation of the hospital.

The Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, Dr Daniel Asare, who received the items, thanked Mr Adu Twum for the gesture and the government for making shipment of the equipment easier.

Mr Daniel Sam of the IOM Ghana said migration was not all about negative stories, pointing out that the IOM was committed to ensuring that Ghanaians outside the country were able to contribute their quota to the development of the country.
