A Senior Communications Officer of Zoomlion, Mr Adams Mahama, said the trucks were part of efforts towards enhancing the region's sanitation fight.

He stress the need for the trucks to be allocated to districts in the region that needed them the most.

He said the company would continue to play critical roles in ensuring that the country's sanitation issues improved.

Unveiling the trucks at a short ceremony, the Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, expressed gratitude to the company and commended it for its zeal to deal with sanitation issues in the country.

He noted that Zoomlion was playing its part in the clean Ghana agenda and said the trucks would greatly improve efforts already being made by the region to combat insanitary conditions. He, therefore, urged efficient use of the trucks.

Sanitation dialogue

The Sanitation Stakeholders' dialogue, the second in a series of discussions to be held in all 16 regions of the country, has been designed to serve as a converging point for critical conversations on Ghana's sanitation and waste management issues.

The dialogue witnessed a huge participation and discussions by panellists from academia, local government, sanitation sector players and traditional authorities.

Dr Letsa, in an earlier address at the dialogue, said sanitation was critical to survival, hence the need to strive to maintain clean communities as was being done in the Volta Region.

He commended the region's assemblies for the feat and added that the region currently had 286 open defecation free communities, while it had achieved 13 per cent regional sanitation coverage.

He stressed the need to do more and thus, commended the GCGL and Zoomlion for the initiative, pledging his administration’s support to the cause. #GraphicCleanGH
