The presentation of the 2,500 litre-tanker was in response to a request made by the immediate past Chief Executive Officer of the KATH, Mr I Offei Gyimah, for assistance to support the hospital and its affiliates to deal with difficulties they were having with water. Some of KATH’s subsidiaries are, a polyclinic, a nursing training school and an estate department.

The new CEO of the hospital, Dr Joseph Akpaloo, received the water tanker on behalf of the hospital. He noted that even though the hospital was trying very hard to ensure that water shortage at the facility was reduced to the minimum, there was still a lot to be done.

According to him, the hospital consumes 700,000 litres of water every day but is able to store only 238,000 litres, meaning that anytime the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) cut its supply, a huge problem occurs.

In presenting the vehicle, Mr Kofi Sekyere Boateng, the Ashanti Regional Director of Zoomlion, said his outfit was intent on assisting organisations to overcome problems with sanitation which was a major contributor to the onset of diseases.

He said Zoomlion would continue to assist KATH to enable it to provide qualitative health to people in the metropolis and beyond.
