According to him, women play a crucial role in the society; they are indispensable.

The Very Rev. Fr Adoboli made the comments in a speech read on his behalf at the World Union of Catholic Women Organisation (WUCWO) Day celebration.

It was organised by the Accra Archdiocesan Council of Women at the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Madina.

WUCWO is the umbrella body for all women in the Catholic Church. In Ghana, the WUCWO day is celebrated by all Catholic dioceses but on different dates selected to suit the various dioceses.

The event, which was held on the theme, “Women, sowers of hope”, brought together women from the various parishes in the Catholic Archdiocese in Accra, as well as women’s groups from other Christian denominations.

Peacemakers

The Very Rev. Fr Adoboli described women as an integral part of the foundation that held society and, therefore, asked them not to shun their responsibilities towards society.

“When there is a likelihood for the eruption of violence in society, women are the ones who normally ensure that peace is restored,” he stated.

The President of the Accra Archdiocesan Council of Women, Mrs Margaret Yeboah, appealed to the participants to eschew vices that might tarnish their image and womanhood as a whole.
