Two people died, and seven others got injured when a tipper truck and a bus collided head-on at Abease on the Elubo-Takoradi section of the N1 highway.
The accident happened on Thursday, June 25.
The Ghana National Fire Service received the distress call at 11:53 am and arrived at the scene to find out that five passengers in the bus, with a Nigerian number plate, and one person from the tipper truck were trapped.
First responders had rescued three casualties before the fire crew arrived.
Four casualties were sent to the Elubo Government Hospital. The bus driver died at the scene, while his assistant died at the hospital.
A preliminary investigation linked the accident to the bus driver swerving to avoid a pothole and veering into the lane of the oncoming truck.
The fire crew disconnected battery terminals, cooled the overheated engine compartment, and cleared debris from the road.
