We are not recruiting; ignore fake advertisements - Police

The Police Administration has asked the public to ignore "fake advertisements" portraying that the service was recruiting personnel.

According to the police, recruits who started training in February 2020 at the various training schools in Accra, Koforidua, Ho, Kumasi and Pwalugu are still undergoing the scheduled training exercises.

In a press statement signed by Mrs Sheilla Kessie Abayie-Buckman, the Director of Public Affairs, the police said "recruitment exercises are first published in the major dailies, at least the "Daily Graphic" and "Ghanaian Times" newspapers prior to the start of the recruitment processes".

Reacting to speculations by some persons that the Police is in breach of the law for the ongoing training of recruits, it was explained that, Regulation 4 of the extended Imposition of Restrictions (Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Pandemic) Instrument, 2020 [E.L. 64] exempts "Security Services including the Ghana Police Service from restrictions under the regulations", the statement clarified.

The statement added that the Police administration has instituted sufficient measures to ensure social distancing among recruits.

"Adequate measures have also been put in place to sufficiently manage any issues of COVID-19 that may arise at any of the Police training facilities".

It urged the public to verify police recruitment by calling the Police Toll Free number 18555 or the National Unified code 112 and also report any person(s) who make false claims of recruitment to the nearest Police Station for arrest and prosecution.
