Water supply begins today in areas affected by shutdown
The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) will, from today, begin the supply of water to communities affected by the shutdown of the Kpong Water Treatment Plant.

Under its schedule of supply, assembly and unit committee members, as well as opinion leaders, are to call the GWCL’s call centres or control rooms to request for tanker services on behalf of their people or in distressed areas
The Chief Manager in charge of Public Relations at the GWCL, Mr Michael Agyemang, told the Daily Graphic yesterday that when those calls were received, the tankers would be dispatched and placed at vantage points in the vicinity from where residents could fetch water.
He was, however, of the view that because of the education embarked upon by the company prior to the shutdown, those to be affected would have stored enough water at least for today
That notwithstanding, Mr Agyemang said the GWCL had placed water tankers on stand-by to supply on demand.
Call numbers
He said the communities affected by the shutdown of the Kpong Water Treatment Plant, through their assembly members could call the GWCL control room or call centres on 0302-774707 to make request for tanker services.
Mr Agyemang said they could also text their request to 1700 on all networks.
“Those on the Vodafone network could also call toll free on 0804000 to make requests,” he added.
Affected Areas
Areas affected by the shutdown of the Kpong Water Treatment Plant include Tema, Ashaiman, Lashibi, Michel Camp, Afienya, Prampram, Ningo, Somanya, Dodowa and the Akuapem Ridge.
Other areas are Adentan, Madina, Ashalley-Botwe, Adjirigano, East Legon, Legon, Ashongman, Kwabenya, Taifa, Dome, Achimota and its surroundings, Abelemkpe, Dzorwulu, Roman Ridge and the Airport Residential Area.
