Watch out for false prophets — Evangelist Baning

The Living Testimonies for Jesus Bible Ministries has launched a project to help Christians differentiate between deceitful salvation messages and the original salvation message of Jesus Christ and understand their complexities.

The project, the Narrow Way Gospel Revival Message, seeks to bring to the Christian community  the unadulterated salvation message of Jesus Christ to enable Christians to sustain their salvation, particularly in these end times.

The project is founded on Matthew 7:13-14 which admonishes Christians to “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it’’.

Project launch

Launching the project in Accra last Saturday, the Head Pastor of the church and a religious researcher, Evangelist Sampson Joe Baning, said the Bible had made reference to two types of Christianity and the understanding of  both would help Christians to live according to the dictates of Jesus christ.

The two, he said, were the Broad Way Christianity and the Narrow Way Christianity.

“Broad Way Christianity thrives on the world system, that is traditions and cultures of this world based on a watered-down gospel which leads people into eternal damnation, while the Narrow Way Christianity thrives solely on the unblemished godly life of  Jesus Christ and solidly based on the authentic Word of God which eventually leads people into eternal life,” he said.

Evangelist Baning said a message to return the Christian community to preach and pursue the unadulterated message of salvation had become more necessary because we are in the end time the Bible spoke about.

He said the Bible had noted in 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 that in the end time Satan would transform himself into an angel of light and deceive many through his ministers who masquerade as ministers of the Gospel.

“Many will go to church; many will perform miracles in the name of the Lord; speak in diverse forms of tongues, etc. However, the Lord will say to them, “I never knew you” on the Judgment day (Matthew 7:21-23 NIV),” he said.

Doctrine of demons

Evangelist Baning said the Bible mentioned that the doctrines of demons would creep into the Church, according to Timothy chapter 4:1, and therefore, there was the need to preach the unadulterated message of salvation to keep Christians on track.

“The Bible says people will not heed to sound doctrine but desire what their itching ears want to hear (II Timothy 4:3 KJV).Indeed, the Bible says, “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man but the end thereof are the ways of death (Proverbs 14:12 KJV)”.

He said above all the Bible warnings and many other trends of apostasy that the Bible has said will engulf the Church, Satan will unleash upon the Church of Jesus Christ the weird unseen power of the anti-Christ called the secret power of lawlessness, according to II Thessalonians 2:3, 7.

The unleashing of the anti-Christ, he said, would create a deceptive scenario where people will go to church and fervently proclaim Christ and yet disobey the Word of God and continue to sin in the House of God.

He said in these end times, there were three categories of fake pastors operating in disguise for the anti-Christ.

“The first group of pastors are Satanic bishops preaching the gospel but not in its entirety, manifesting occultism by  performing rituals in the name of spiritual directions. The second group look a bit refined; they rattle in so-called tongues, give false prophesies, claim to be anointing people with oil among other falsehoods. These pastors are indulged in so many social and spiritual vices. The third group is made up of pastors who are very influential in the country carrying varying titles such as overseers, right reverends, Cardinals. They are the mentors of the other two groups but like the sanhedrins, pretend to be the custodians of Christianity,” he said.

He described them as the “untouchables” fighting for space in national governance with politicians.
