A strongly worded statement signed by a Presidential Staffer in the Office of the Vice-President, Mr James Agyenim-Boateng, described the allegation, which was attributed to the Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Dr Anthony Akoto Osei, as false, baseless and without merit.

“The reported bad blood is a figment of the fertile imagination of the person making the allegation and it should be treated with the contempt it deserves,” it said.

It said Mr Amissah-Arthur, from the period he was Governor of the BoG, till date had had a very fruitful and cherished relationship with Dr Wampah.

“The Vice-President wishes to seize this opportunity to wish Dr Wampah well as he leaves the Bank of Ghana as Governor,” the statement concluded.

On Wednesday, Dr Wampah announced his retirement from the BoG after four years as Governor.
