Unichem Ghana donates towards COVID-19 management
Unichem Ghana Group, a pharmaceutical marketing and distribution company, has presented medical items to four institutions which are in the front line of managing the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases.
The institutions are the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, 37 Military Hospital, Tema General Hospital and the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge Hospital).

Senior pharmacists from the Unichem management team led the staff of the company to donate antibiotics (Azilex, Azithromycin), some of the drugs used in treating COVID-19 in combination with hydroxychloroquine, a popular anti-malaria drug.
Unichem also donated Luex Cough Syrup and WORMBAT, a locally made de-wormer manufactured by Unichem Industries.
Global partners
A statement issued by the company in Accra last Friday said some of Unichem’s global partners, including Luex U.K., were supporting the ongoing global clinical trial efforts.
A senior pharmacist of the company, Mr Solomon Odamtten, said: “We are still a long way from a perfect healthcare system; however, thanks to the professional, committed and compassionate medical workers in the front line, the country is in good hands.”
He gave an assurance that the company would continue to deliver quality health care and pledged the support towards fighting the virus.

The leadership of the hospitals took turns to thank Unichem for its generosity.
The Medical Director of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Dr Emmanuel Srofenyoh, who received the items on behalf of the hospital, thanked the company for the gesture and said the presentation was timely.
