The Director, Marketing and Alternate Channels, Mr Clifford Duke Mettle, presented the items on behalf of the acting Chief Executive Officer of uniBank, Dr Kwabena Duffuor II.

He announced that the bank had also extended GH¢24 million Bridge Financing to the National Hajj Board to support recurrent expenditure of prospective pilgrims.

“The Trade Finance Loan is to facilitate the transfer of funds to the Saudi Arabian authorities to ensure that, Ghanaian pilgrims are secure in Mecca,” Mr Mettle stated, adding that the loan would be repaid only after the pilgrims had completed the pilgrimage and returned to the country.

Other packages

The director further listed a variety of support packages for this year’s Hajj to include sponsorship of Ghana Hajj Agents Association Seminars and support for the celebration of this year’s Eid (Sallah) at the end of the Ramadan this month.

Again, uniBank would underwrite all media announcements and advertisements preceding the festivities to ensure the full participation of the Muslim community in the 2017 Pilgrimage to Mecca, he added.

Mr Mettle thanked the Muslim community for the opportunity to partner them and offer its unrivalled products and services on a much larger scale, which he said was the bank’s way of showing gratitude and celebrating the spirit of togetherness.
