The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the bank, Dr Kwabena Duffuor, presented a cheque to officials of the Foundation, and said healthcare was one of the key pillars of the bank’s corporate social responsibility.

“It is against this backdrop that we did not hesitate to respond to the request from this organisation. We believe that this financial support will urge the Foundation on to mobilise enough resources for the construction and management of the Ghana Centre for Haematology and Clinical Genetics at Korle-Bu,” he said.

Ms Pearl Duah of the foundation thanked the bank for the timely intervention, and expressed the hope that UniBank would become a big partner and key supporter of the foundation in the coming years.

The foundation has been formed to mobilise resources for the construction and management of the Ghana Centre for Haematology and Clinical Genetics at Korle-Bu, with the sole aim of minimising the rise of haematological neoplasm which, according to the Foundation, has attained debilitating proportions in Ghana.
