Victims of the June 3, 2015 flood at Adabraka in Accra have received relief items donated by the University of Ghana Medical School (UGMS) Class of 1997.
The items, estimated at GHȻ4,000, include rice, detergents, cooking oil, provisions, toiletries and clothing.

The items were received by the queenmother of Adabraka, Naa Korkor Aadzieoyi I, and later distributed to the victims of the flood that had claimed lives and destroyed property.

Support

Making the presentation, the President of the class, Dr Cobba Essel, said the items were purchased with contributions made by members of the class to support the victims.

He said residents of Adabraka were badly affected by the flood and that prompted the class to present the relief items to the victims.
He noted that the items were meant to meet the pressing needs of the people and expressed the hope that the donation would go a long way to mitigate the suffering of the victims.

Adabraka Queenmother

Naa Aadzieoyi thanked the UGMS Class of 1997 for the support.
“The items alone show how concerned you are about the people of Adabraka,” she said.
She called on benevolent individuals and organisations to collaborate and bring to an end the challenges the victims of the fire and flood disaster were going through.

Some beneficiaries who spoke to the Daily Graphic thanked the doctors for the donation and said the support would help improve their living conditions.
