UG Pharmacy student tops 2024 Ghana Pharmacy Professional Qualifying Exams
The first batch of PharmD products from the University of Ghana School of Pharmacy has produced the overall best candidate in the recent November 2024 qualifying examinations organised by the Pharmacy Council of Ghana.
Amongst 624 pharmacy students who took the licensure exams across the country, Maame Adjoa Gyasiwaa Aidoo, a final year PharmD student from the University of Ghana School of Pharmacy emerged as the overall best candidate. Besides, the University recorded a 98 per cent pass rate.

This is the first batch of PharmD students produced by the School following the phasing out of the 4-year BPharm programme in the 2021/2022 academic year.
In his congratulatory message, the Dean of the School of Pharmacy, Prof. Isaac Julius Asiedu-Gyekye, extended his heartfelt appreciation to members of faculty, staff, administrators (both past and present), University Management, preceptors and all stakeholders for their hard work and support that has culminated in this remarkable accomplishment.

Profile of Maame Adjoa Gyasiwaathe Overall Best Candidate
Maame Adjoa Gyasiwaa Aidoo is a current PharmD graduate from the University of Ghana, recently honoured as the overall best student in the Ghana Pharmacy Professional Qualifying Examination.
Born and raised in Tema, Maame’s early academic journey began at Robert Memorial School, continuing at Aburi Girls’ Senior High School and culminating in her pharmacy studies at the University of Ghana.
Her passion for Pharmacy was ignited by her family, particularly through a habit of helping her mother understand medications.
This experience sparked a lasting interest that led her to pursue a degree in Doctor of Pharmacy. Throughout her studies, she cultivated a profound commitment to pharmaceutical knowledge, leadership and service.
During her academic years, Maame took on significant roles in her Christian fellowship, where she developed her skills in guiding and organising others.
She also nurtured her entrepreneurial spirit by offering professional braiding services, a creative pursuit which she seeks to develop.
Maame is deeply grateful to God for guiding her journey and to her friends and mentors whose support has been invaluable.
With her recent academic success, she stands ready to make a meaningful impact in the field of pharmacy, confident that her calling will continue to serve her community and glorify God.
