Four other persons who were injured are currently receiving treatment at the Saboba Government Hospital, while the bodies of the deceased have also been deposited at the same hospital.

One of the deceased has been identified as Matsa Yakpe, 45, a farmer; while the other person is yet to be identified.

According to the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Northern Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ebenezer Tetteh, the misunderstanding occurred when one of the communities was allegedly preparing the disputed farmland, located between the two communities, for cultivation of crops.

Meanwhile, a suspect has been arrested in connection with the disturbances and is assisting the Yendi police in investigations. His identity had not been made known by the police at the time of filing this report.

A single-barrel gun and 34 cartridges are said to have been retrieved from the suspect.

Mr Tetteh, however, stated that no other arrests had been made, but more police personnel had been sent from Yendi to control the situation.
