Two notorious criminals escape from Tumu Police cell
Two notorious criminals on remand in police cell have broken loose in Tumu in the Sissala East District in the Upper West Region.

The two suspects, Alhassan Abdulai, 24, and Mohammed Faisal, 23, allegedly escaped through the ceiling of the cell at dawn on Monday.
They had been remanded by the Tumu District Magistrate Court.
While Alhassan was charged with murder and remanded last Friday by the court, Faisal was charged for robbery last Thursday.
Only the two of them were in the cell.
Briefing the Daily Graphic in Wa, Assistant Commissioner of Police Dr Sayibu Gariba, the Deputy Upper West Regional Police Commander, said the two suspects broke the ceiling of the cell and bolted around 5 a.m.
He said the escape was detected during one of the routine checks by the two policemen on duty.
He said Alhassan was alleged to have murdered someone recently and was arrested in Wa last Wednesday, while Faisal, a notorious armed robber who had been on the police wanted list for some time now, was picked up at Banda Nkwanta in the Northern Region.
The two runaway suspects were on remand awaiting trial at the Tumu District Magistrate Court, having committed their respective crimes in the Sissala District.
Meanwhile, the police have mounted an intensive search for the two alleged criminals, while the circumstances surrounding the way the ceiling was tampered with to enhance their escape are under investigations.
