No injuries were recorded in the accident which happened at about 3:45pm.

The truck, a rickety Albion with registration number GR 3794 J had developed a mechanical fault and coughed to a halt on the rails at the level-crossing as the driver attempted to access the main Graphic – Kaneshie road.

Eyewitnesses said the driver and others he had mobilised to push the truck off the tracks had to abandon the effort and escape to safety as the train appeared suddenly.

The speeding train then crashed into the truck, rolling it over onto its side and spilling the scraps. The train continued its journey towards the Kwame Nkrumah Circle without any immediate danger, except it left behind a long trail of vehicular traffic.

The police later arrived to help clear the heap and pave the way for traffic.
