According to the prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Reindolph Agyemang, the complainant, Mr Emmanuel Akoto, is a management consultant who lives with his wife and children at the Adenta Flats in Accra, while Ofori is a trader who resides at Bubiashie, Accra.

He said on July 18, 2013, around 10 p.m., Mr Akoto was in his room with his wife and children when Ofori and two others, now at large, armed with knives and some offensive weapons, attacked the household.

According to the prosecutor, Ofori and his gang robbed the couple of a number of ICT gadgets worth GH¢6,690, sets of jewellery valued at GH¢15,000, a male Kente cloth valued at GH¢500 and GH¢4,620.00 and 600 Euros cash.

The prosecutor said Ofori and his accomplices raped Mr Akoto’s wife in turns and they also assaulted him and molested his children.

After committing the crime, Ofori and his accomplices left behind a cutter and an iron bar.

ASP Agyemang said on July 23, 2013, the police had information and proceeded to arrest Ofori at his hideout at Bubiashie.

A search conducted in his room revealed five DVD players, a television set, as well as some items believed to be part of the stolen items from Mr Akoto’s house.

The prosecutor said during an inspection on the pen drives, some names and contact numbers of Mr Akoto were found on one of them.

He said Mr Akoto, who initially reported the robbery to the Lakeside Police Station, later made another complaint to the Greater Accra regional branch of the Criminal Investigations Department and had identified some of the items as his.
