Three arrested for impersonation in ongoing WASSCE exams in Tamale

Three people have been arrested in Tamale for impersonation in the ongoing West Africa Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The suspects, Alhassan Abdul Karim, 20, Zakaria Abdul Rauf, 24, and Tanko Baba, 17 were arrested on Wednesday at the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) Hall in Tamale during the Mathematics Core Two paper in the ongoing 2018 WASSCE examination.

The Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mr. Mohammed Yusif Tanko said Tanko Baba, a former student of the Ghana Libya Senior High School (SHS) and Zakaria Abdul Rauf, a former student of Tamale SHS were arrested while writing the paper for Alhassan Abdul Karim and Yusuf Alhassan, both students of the Institute of Business Studies in Tamale.

He said Yusuf Alhassan is currently on the run while the three suspects were currently in police custody for further investigations.

Meanwhile, the Oda Police in the Eastern Region are investigating 13 people who allegedly contracted from Accra and other places to write the WASSCE for students of PLACID International School at Oda.
