Tema police probe death threats against COPEC's Duncan Amoah
The Tema Regional Police Command have launched a probe into alleged threats received by the Executive Secretary of the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers, Ghana (COPEC), Mr Duncan Amoah.
According to the police, Mr Amoah on Monday filed a complaint with the Regional Police Command that his life was in danger after some assigns of the CEO of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST) allegedly issued death threats after he (Amoah) uncovered an alleged shady deal at BOST.

The Regional Police Crime officer, Superintendent Mr Seidu Adamu confirmed the opening of investigations into the alleged threats.
He said based on the complaint filed by Mr Amoah, the police has extended an invitation to the Chief Executive Officer of BOST, Mr Alfred Obeng to assist in investigations.

Speaking to Graphic Online in Tema, Mr Amoah said following COPEC, Ghana’s expose of an alleged sell-off of 1.8million barrels of crude oil by BOST, causing the state to lose about $5.3 million, his life has been threatened by unknown persons who have vowed to eliminate him in three days. This led him to lodged a complaint with the police.
Police meeting
At about 3:45pm on Tuesday, both Mr Amoah and Mr Obeng reported to the offices of Tema Regional Police Deputy Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Mr Kwaku Boadu Peprah, for a closed door meeting which lasted about 30 minutes.
After the meeting, Mr Obeng declined a comment when he approached by Graphic Online.
Mr Amoah on the other hand told Graphic Online that he was prepared to go to every length to expose persons behind the threat.
"A threat on a human life is not something that the police takes lightly so the two of us were invited and have commenced their investigations," he said.
Mr Amoah said based on the meeting with the police, Mr Obeng offered to sign his own bail while investigation proceeds.
Asked about the nature of the threat, Mr Amoah said it started with a phone call by persons suspected to be assigns of the BOST MD requesting for a meeting and to talk about the issues which he said he declined.
"They got a bit offended and changed language from let us meet to we will find you, and kill u, we know where your family is and we know where we will find everybody and in three days, you are going to die. I don’t think I will take those threats lightly so I reported to the police."
He however gave the assurance that no amount of intimidations and threats will derail COPEC'S work.
