The two teachers of the Techiman Senior High School (SHS) in the Bono East Region who assaulted a student of the school have been recommended for removal from their duty roles in addition to the payment of the medical bills of their victim from their personal resources.
A disciplinary committee set up by the school made the recommendation following the October 23, 2026, incident.
Meanwhile, police criminal investigations aspect of the case is still pending.
They have since been arrested by the police for allegedly assaulting a 17-year-old student in the incident, which was captured on video.

The Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) in charge of Quality and Access, Dr Issahaque Munawaru, in a radio interview with Accra-based Joy FM monitored by Graphic Online on Monday, November 2, 2026 morning made the recommendation for reprimand known.
He said the proposed surcharge would cover the medical expenses incurred by the student's parents following the incident.
Dr Munawaru said preliminary reports indicated that the student at the centre of the incident had been bullying form one students and demanding money from them.
According to him, the reports suggested that the student used the metal part of a belt to beat the form one students who refused to give him money.
He described the alleged conduct as extortion but stressed that it did not justify the teachers' actions.
“From the superficial point of view, it is wrong for the teachers to pounce on their boys because they could not control themselves when they received the information that they themselves were bullying their colleagues,” he said.
He said preliminary investigations by the school also indicated that the teachers failed to report the incident to management after it occurred.
Management subsequently constituted a disciplinary committee following the circulation of the video of the assault on social media.
Dr Munawaru said the committee assessed the conduct of the teachers under Part 3, Section 8, Subsection 8 of the GES Code of Conduct, which outlines acts of misconduct by teachers.
He explained that the proposed sanctions were preliminary recommendations and that the GES would consider the outcome of the police investigation before taking a final decision on the matter.
Police investigation
The Bono East Regional Police Command arrested the two teachers on Sunday, November 1, 2026.
The police have named the two teachers as Jerry Jones Owusu Bekoe, 37, an English Language teacher, and Ameyaw Adusa, 44, an Information and Communications Technology teacher.
According to the police, preliminary investigations indicated that the incident occurred at about 4 p.m. on October 23, 2026, on the school premises.
The teachers allegedly confronted the Form Three student over claims that he had assaulted two Form One students. The confrontation subsequently turned violent.
Dr Munawaru said the GES had been informed of the arrests and would cooperate with the police by providing any information required for the investigation.
He said the outcome of the criminal investigation and any subsequent prosecution would inform the Service's final disciplinary action.
He also disclosed that the student was reported to be doing well.
Code of conduct
On whether the teachers had previously been involved in similar misconduct, Dr Munawaru said the committee's report made no reference to earlier offences, suggesting that the incident was their first.
He said the GES Code of Conduct prohibited teachers from administering corporal punishment, subjecting students to painful postures such as frog jumping or carrying heavy loads, threatening students with harm, or physically assaulting them.
He said the Service regularly reminded teachers of their professional responsibilities through induction programmes, professional learning community sessions and continuous professional development activities organised each term.
Dr Munawaru added that the GES was continuing to provide guidance and counselling support for both learners and staff.
