Suspect deliver boxes

The Kaneshie District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent of Police, Mr Fleance Senam Adika, narrating the circumstances that led to the suspect’s arrest, said  about 1:30 p.m. on February 15, 2014, Nurudeen presented two of the boxes to the station manager for delivery to the said Alhaji.

At the station, he said the unsuspecting transport operator charged GH¢10 for each box and loaded it onto a Nigeria-bound vehicle.

According to Mr Adika, the suspect, on another occasion, presented two consignments for onward delivery to the said Alhaji.

Arrest

The driver of the vehicle with the boxes on board, according to the Kaneshie Police Commander, was arrested at the Seme Border on the Ghana-Nigeria transit point after a search resulted in the interception of the boxes with the suspected Indian hemp.

Mr Adika said the police mounted a search for Nurudeen after the driver of the vehicle had informed the police about the source of the boxes.

Unknown to Nurudeen that he was wanted by the police, he returned to the station about 5:30 p.m. on February 20, 2014, with two more boxes and inquired why the two boxes he had presented earlier had not been delivered.

He said he was immediately arrested and handed over to the Kaneshie Police where he allegedly admitted delivering the boxes at the station to one Alhaji in Nigeria but denied knowing the content of the boxes.
