Tamale: NEDCo says it has resolved more than 800 billing complaints in one week

The Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) says it has resolved more than 800 billing-related complaints and installed over 400 new electricity meters in the Tamale Area of the Northern Region in one week.

The complaints were resolved and the meters installed as part of a series of customer clinics organised by NEDCo last week

It was an exercise that saw NEDCo taking its complaints-handling services closer to customers and addressing their electricity-related concerns.

The customer clinics were held in the Tamale suburbs of Wamale, Kalpohini, Kugani, Vittin and Datoyili.

The exercise provided customers with an opportunity to lodge complaints and seek assistance on various electricity-related issues without having to visit NEDCo’s offices.

At the various locations, temporary complaint desks were set up to receive and address concerns relating to new service applications, wrong billing, billing adjustments, prepaid meter vending and payment of electricity bills, among other issues.

The Area Billing and Revenue Protection Officer of NEDCo, Godswill Amihere, said the initiative was aimed at strengthening the relationship between the company and its customers through direct communication.

He encouraged community members to take advantage of the clinics to bring their electricity-related complaints to the attention of NEDCo for redress.

He said some customers who reported themselves for using electricity without authorisation were also assisted to regularise their connections.

For his part, the Northern Area Manager of NEDCo, Elvis Amoako Demuyakor, said the customer clinics would be organised every quarter, with particular attention given to communities from which the company received frequent complaints.
