Built and furnished by the Svani Group Limited and stuffed with books by the UN-sponsored “Thank You Small Library (TYSL)” programme, the library would serve about 2,000 pupils.

The air-conditioned library block with computers and accessories was built by the company as part of efforts to enhance learning among the children for improved academic performance.

To support the cluster of schools in ICT teaching, Fidelity Bank announced at the inauguration to donate 10 computers and accessories to the schools.

The Executive Chairman of Svani Group, Mr Thomas Svanikier, and his wife, Johanna Svanikier, Ghana’s Ambassador to France, offered to provide two additional computers and accessories.

Inaugurating the facility, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, lauded the objective of the project and commended the donors for the foresight in helping to build a solid foundation for the children.

The Korean Ambassador to Ghana, Lyeo Woon-Ki, advised the pupils to be devoted to their education, and gave an assurance of more assistance from Korea towards the progress of the education sector in Ghana.

Mr Svanikier indicated that the gesture was indicative of the company’s commitment to its social responsibility, as well as its contribution to the provision of quality education for children.

The Coordinator of TYSL programme and the Director-General of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in South Korea, Mrs Dho Young-Shim, said the Osu Presby facility added to the increasing number of library projects undertaken in Ghana under the programme.

The Circuit 30 Supervisor of the Osudoku Circuit of the Ghana Education Service, Madam Doris Owusu, thanked the donors for the assistance, and said it would ultimately result in improved academic output.
