A 23-year-old student, Ohemaa Serwaa Abigail Owusu Ansah, has been granted GH¢1 million bail by the Adenta Circuit Court after being accused of stealing GH¢1.5 million belonging to the founder of the International Godsway Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim.

The court admitted her to bail with two sureties, one of whom must be justified with landed property. She is expected to reappear on October 29, 2026.

Prosecution's case

Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo, prosecuting, told the court that the complainant, Bishop Obinim, was a friend of the accused.

The prosecution said the accused visited the complainant at his residence at Lakeside on October 13, 2026. During their conversation in the complainant's room, he left for church, leaving the accused at the house.

The following morning, at about 7 a.m., the complainant discovered that his safe had been broken into and GH¢1.5 million stolen.

When confronted, the accused allegedly told the complainant that she had contacted her father's worker, identified as Owusu, who sent two young men to the house.

The prosecution said the accused led the two men into the room and showed them the safe. They allegedly broke it open, took the money and left.

Arrest and caution statement

On October 16, at about 2 p.m., the accused was arrested and taken to the Criminal Investigations Department headquarters.

In her caution statement, she allegedly admitted inviting the two men to the complainant's house to break into the safe and steal the money.

The prosecution said investigations were ongoing.
