Samples of their blood, stomach contents and body parts were sent to the GSA for a toxicology analysis on Thursday and it is expected that the findings would be ready next week.

A post-mortem was conducted earlier on the two bodies at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. However, when the Daily Graphic contacted the Dansoman police, it was told that the autopsy report was not ready.

On February 3, 2015, Frank Arhin, 32, and Sandra Boateng, 30, believed to be lovers, were found dead in their single room.

It is suspected that they were asphyxiated by the fumes from a generator which was on a chair in the room, which served as a living and bedroom.

The room had a small window which was covered with heavy curtains.

Family

Since the incident, the police have invited family members of the two to assist in the investigations.

A family member of Arhin who did not want to be named said, “We have been cooperating with the police.  We know there is more to the death than the report in the media, but we are all waiting for the experts to tell us what they have found.”

Speaking to the Daily Graphic on the day the bodies were found, a brother of Arhin, Mr Bismark Kwaku Asiedu, who lives in the same house, said Arhin and Sandra were found dead at about 10 a.m., after which a complaint was made to the police.

He said Arhin had bought a new generator the day before the incident and decided to use it when there was power outage.

Mr Asiedu said he, Arhin and Sandra sat in the compound of the house conversing until about midnight when they parted ways and went to bed, but Arhin decided to take the generator into his room, since he was afraid thieves might steal it.

When Arhin had not been seen the next morning and did not answer calls to his phone, family members broke his door and found the two bodies in the room.

Police confirmation

The Dansoman Divisional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr Antwi Tabi, said the police had ruled out foul play following its preliminary investigations but was waiting for the autopsy report.

He explained that there were no external marks of assault on the two bodies and no sign of a struggle.
