The irate youth demonstrators chased out security personnel who were dispatched to the area to ensure peace and order.

According to a report on Citi FM, the furious demonstrators pelted stones at the police and journalists who had gone to the scene to restore order and report on the event respectively.

Among the Police officers who were fleeing the scene, according to the report, was the Director of Police Public Relations, Superintendent Cephas Arthur.

“I was running with Supt. Cephas Arthur himself and even the Police officers and the Fire officers have left the scene; all running for their lives. Majority of the Police officials have left the area. There were about 50 policemen stationed there but they realized that the situation was out of control and they were overwhelmed. When the youth started throwing stones at us, we had to run for our lives,” the reporter said.
