Seven companies support Farmers Day celebration

Seven companies have presented cash and agricultural equipment to the Ministry of Agriculture as their contribution to the celebration of the National Farmers Day.

The day will be celebrated on Friday, December 7 on the theme: “Agriculture: Moving Ghana beyond aid”.

The national durbar marking the event will be held at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale.

Companies

The companies are C. Woerman Ghana, Japan Motors, CFAO Motors Ghana, Bentronic Productions, Agro Innova, Qualiplast Limited and Vodafone Ghana.

At a presentation ceremony held at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA), the Accounts Manager of C. Woermann Ghana, Mr Alexander Akrofi, presented four brush cutters and one Bosch-branded power tool box worth GH¢10,500 to the ministry on behalf of the company, while the Assistant Managing Director of Japan Motors, Mr Abdul-Somad Alhassan Musah, also presented a four-wheel motorbike on behalf of his company.

The Sales Executive of CFAO Motors, Mr Eric Sonny Adjanku, handed over a Suzuki motorbike valued at GH¢15,500 to the ministry as the company’s contribution to the day.

Other donations

On behalf of Bentronic Productions, its Marketing Officer, Mr Leonard Dogbe, presented 20 Knapsack sprayers to the ministry, while the Head of Operations of Agro Innova, Mr Moses Mallaghan, gave out a one-year free subscription of its Akokotakra poultry software to be given to the national best livestock farmer, with the Marketing and Export Coordinator of Qualiplast Limited, Ms Maha Odaimat, presenting plastic products, including watering cans, buckets and waste bins.

The Director of Vodafone Business, Ms Angela Mensah-Poku, handed over a dummy cheque for GH¢20,000.

Appreciation

A Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Mr Kennedy Osei Nyarko, received the donations on behalf of the ministry and thanked the companies for their support.

He said the items would be given out to deserving farmers at the regional and national levels and urged corporate bodies and organisations to keep on supporting the celebration to honour deserving farmers across the country.
