He said “those were the days that chiefs were selected merely on their bravery; “What is important now is people who have the capacity to influence development in their areas.”

Mr Pratt was addressing the durbar of chiefs of Kushea in the North Assin Municipality, in honour of Korean and Chinese ambassadors.

Commendation

He commended the chiefs for developing many tourism sites in the area such as a crocodile pond, a fish pond and peacock habitat and said the area would now attract visitors.

Mr Pratt further appealed to the traditional leaders not to accept schnapps and other drinkables but instead demand for cement and other building materials to develop their areas.

“The schnapps and beers are too many. Let’s now demand that they bring cement and building materials to help us develop our areas,” he said.

On the forthcoming election, Mr Pratt said it would be based on issues, but not insults and urged the people to conduct themselves and maintain peace.

Potential

The South Korean Ambassador to Ghana, Mr Woon Ki Lyeon, lauded the people for keeping the area clean, and pledged his country’s cooperation with the Kushea community.

“We shall support you to make the area a better place to live,” he said.
