Sekyere Kumawu District moves to prevent Covid-19 spread
The Sekyere Kumawu District Assembly in the Ashanti Region is implementing measures to prevent the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) from invading the district.
The measures include the deployment of teams to various communities to educate the people on the mode of transmission and how to protect themselves against the virus.

The District Chief Executive for Sekyere Kumawu, Mr Samuel Addae-Agyekum, who disclosed this to Daily Graphic, appealed to the people to abide by the laid down protocols that had been directed to fight the spread of the pandemic.
Task force
Mr Addae-Agyekum stated that the assembly had formed a 22-member task force to lead in the public education and compliance to curb the prevention and spread of Covid-19 in the district.
The membership of the task force comprises the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Environmental Sanitation, the Police Service, Immigration Service, District Security Council representation, Ghana Health Service, traditional authority, faith-based organisations and others.
The DCE said that the assembly had distributed 10 Veronica buckets and soap to the Kumawu, Bodomase, Dadiase, Banko, Oyoko and other markets in the district to enhance cleanliness among traders and customers.
Intensive education
Mr Addae-Agyekum stated that trained personnel educated community members on the pandemic, using information centres.
In addition, assembly staff carried out public announcements, while a jingle had been composed to be played at various information centres regularly.
He was convinced that if people complied with the national protocol of social distancing, staying at home, washing hands with soap under running water and the use of sanitisers, it would be difficult for Covid-19 to spread to the district.
